On Sept. 4, Caddo Parish held signing day. Not for athletes, but for students wanting to get a jump-start on business skills they are going to need for the rest of their lives.
Superintendent Keith Burton said the school system has done a lousy job of recognizing business-minded students in the same way athletes have been. That is changing, he said.
“We have so many businesses that have joined us on this, and you all, the state of Louisiana, has said it’s time for us to rethink the high school experience. It’s no longer good enough to expect a student just to go to class every day and graduate and then expect them to understand what it means to go into the workforce or college or the military.”…
