In an alert from the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development, we learn that tonight only, from 8:00 pm until 6:00 am tomorrow morning, while crews work to repair a crash attenuator, the LA 1 (Youree Drive/North Spring Street) northbound ramp to I-20 eastbound in Shreveport will be closed.
This will be a total ramp closure and all vehicles will be required to detour and utilize an alternate route during this time.
For those unaware, a crash attenuator, also known as an impact attenuator, is a device intended to reduce the damage to structures, vehicles, and lessen injuries to motorists resulting from a collision. These devices are designed to absorb the colliding vehicle’s energy.
Of course, with any type project of this kind, DOTD reminds us that the work will be done “Weather Permitting” and inclement weather could delay, extend or alter the scheduled work day/hours.
