‘Party in the Park’ organizers say security is priority in light of OWE mass shooting

TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) – Making sure people feel safe is at the front of the minds of organizers for the Party in the Park events this summer, after a mass shooting at the Old West End Festival this past weekend that injured 12 people.

There will be around 40 security officers present, with a zero-tolerance policy, random bag checks and no coolers allowed, as well as an evacuation plan.

“For us it is moving forward safely, it is moving forward with our community in mind,” organizer Cheryl Hardy said. “It’s giving people a safe but fun and exciting place to be this weekend.”…
