PORTLAND, Oregon — Legacy Health will open a new Oregon Burn Center at Legacy Emanuel Medical Center on June 3, replacing a facility that has served the region for more than 50 years, the health system announced Thursday.
The 33,000-square-foot center is the only burn center between Seattle and Sacramento and serves adult and pediatric patients with complex burn injuries across Oregon, southwest Washington and the broader Pacific Northwest, according to Legacy Health. The project received more than $2 million in philanthropic donations from community supporters, the health system said.
The new facility includes 16 patient suites that can convert to double occupancy within minutes during a mass casualty incident, Legacy Health said. Each room features specialized climate control, advanced critical care monitoring and radiant heat panels to maintain optimal healing temperatures, according to the announcement.
