WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — Do you have what it takes to complete the exercise routine of a United States Navy SEAL?
That’s what participants in the Murph Challenge sought to find out on Memorial Day at Wichita’s Northwest YMCA. The Murph Challenge is dedicated to Navy SEAL Lieutenant Michael P. Murphy, who posthumously received the Medal of Honor.
Each year, participants help raise money for the LT. Michael P. Murphy Memorial Scholarship Foundation. The challenge itself was Lt. Murphy’s daily workout routine while deployed in Afghanistan: A 1-mile run, 100 pull-ups, 200 push-ups, 300 squats, and another 1-mile run.
“It’s not for everybody, it is a challenge, but when you get finished with all of it, you know you’ve done something today,” said Jason Parks, a personal trainer at the Northwest YMCA branch…
