Leeker’s holds ribbon cutting for new Haysville store

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — Leeker’s is officially open for business in Haysville.

The grocery store had a soft opening over the weekend, but there was an official ribbon cutting on Wednesday to commemorate the opening.

Chris Steindler, the owner of Leeker’s, said having an easily accessible grocery store is important so people don’t have to travel just to get the basics.

“Every community seemed like they needed a grocery store,” Steindler said. “Everybody has to buy groceries, and they have to support it for it to survive.”

Steindler said the experience so far has been positive, and he expects the Big Game to bring a busy weekend.

“It was kind of a monumental task. We took possession of it on a Saturday evening, and we were back open by the following Saturday. It was very, very long days, and a lot of work put in. Without a good team of people, it never would have taken place,” said Steindler.

According to Leeker’s Facebook page, the store is open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday through Saturday.
