River Trunk Pump Station Project
A reader asked about the heavy construction underway at Ninth and B streets. That construction is part of a $144 million wastewater upgrade project, called the River Trunk Pump Station Project.
This project is the final phase of a larger project in Modesto to replace an aging sewer line, reroute flows from the old pipeline into new sewer lines and build a new pump station to “prevent spills, improve reliability and address hydraulic issues,” according to the city. The River Trunk sewage pipeline holds 24% of Modesto’s domestic and commercial waste, according to previous reporting by the Bee.
The pipeline is a 5-mile-long stretch running from the Beard Industrial Park in east Modesto under E.&J. Gallo Winery and then under Dry Creek before leading to the Sutter Avenue treatment plant…
