A Buncombe County man wanted on outstanding failure-to-appear warrants faces additional charges after deputies say he fled a traffic stop in Fairview, crashed his vehicle and abandoned it. The man eluded authorities for nearly a week before he was found.
James Eugene Cole III was the subject of an attempted traffic stop by the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office Illegal Gun Reduction and Narcotics Task Force around noon on July 28. Cole had outstanding failure-to-appear warrants stemming from previous Sheriff’s Office investigations, according to BCSO.
