A Modesto plant with ties to the world’s largest winery is expected to close permanently by the end of the year amid ongoing turmoil in the wine industry.
Last Friday, G3 Enterprises, a packaging and wine grape hauling company founded by the family behind California-headquartered E. & J. Gallo Winery, submitted a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification announcing that one of its Modesto plants is slated to close this December. A total of 66 employees, mostly responsible for making beverage closures such as corks and twist caps, will be permanently laid off, according to the WARN notice.
