Fentanyl killed his brother. A casket promise drives this native Staten Islander’s mission to save lives.

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Michael DiTomasso was on a FaceTime phone call with his parents when he found his 31-year-old brother, David, lying blue and lifeless on Oct. 14, 2023, a victim of fentanyl poisoning.

“His hand was rock solid, like cement,” he recalls. “I don’t know what to do. I basically drop the phone, put my head against the wall, and hear my dad scream to call 911.”
