Man arrested after chase from Copiah to Hinds County

COPIAH COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) – Authorities announced a man was arrested after a chase from Copiah County to Hinds County.

Copiah County Sheriff Byron Swilley said Rodger Fulgham turned himself in on May 18, 2026. He was charged with two counts of aggravated assault on an officer, two counts of felony fleeing, failure to comply and felony malicious mischief to law enforcement.

According to Swilley, deputies attempted to make contact with Fulgham on May 14, 2026, to serve felony warrants. He said Fulgham caused damage to a deputy’s patrol vehicle and fled the area.

The chase ended on Interstate 220 and Highway 80 in Jackson. Swilley said Fulgham fled the scene and turned himself in four days later.
