JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – Jackson police announced a 16-year-old was arrested in connection to a fatal shooting at a park.
On May 19, 2026, police said Daquirius Garner, 16, was arrested and charged with murder and aggravated assault. He appeared in court on May 20, 2026, and received a $1.5 million bond.

The shooting occurred at Leavell Woods Park on Dona Avenue around 7:30 p.m. on April 25, 2026.
Police said the shooting occurred when a large group of young people gathered for a celebration. One of the victims was located at the park, and the second victim was transported to a hospital by a private vehicle.
