Lebanon city officials held a special meeting July 2 rededicating themselves to the principles of the Declaration of Independence in commemoration of the semiquincentennial anniversary.
At a special council meeting on July 2, Lebanon City Council unanimously approved a resolution to rededicate the Declaration of Independence. The resolution was to fulfill the city’s bicentennial committee request in regards to the Bicentennial Time Capsule.
“Fifty years ago, the people of Lebanon recognized the importance of these principles,” chairman Brian Martin said. “They buried this time capsule containing a copy of the Declaration of Independence, local history, and the signatures of many residents who rededicated themselves to its ideals.”…
