Street outreach continues efforts to meet needs of unhoused population despite heat wave

YORK, Pa. (WHP) — Triple digits didn’t stop York’s only street outreach from answering the call to action this week.

It’s all in the name for Friends and Neighbors — employees and volunteers from the organization continued their mission of being a friend and a neighbor to anyone in need as the heat wave peaked.

For the street outreach part of the operation, that looked like loading up bags with survival gear and a cart full of water for a “code red” day. Keeping people who live outside hydrated has been the number one concern…
