JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) – Federal filings unsealed last week show that government officials refuted Hinds County District Attorney Jody Owens’ claims of entrapment and outrageous government conduct back in February, calling the DA the “lynchpin” behind the Jackson bribery scheme.
Owens is charged with eight counts in connection with a scheme to bring a convention center hotel to Jackson.
Court records indicate he accepted bribes to set up meetings between undercover FBI agents posing as out-of-state developers and Jackson city officials and delivered bribes to those officials on the agents’ behalf…
