Remaining FAMU bowler defends coach, disputes former teammates’ claims of mistreatment

Florida A&M bowler Eva Holmes wants people to know her side of the latest developments surrounding the program.

Former Rattlers bowler Shamoria Johnson shared an Instagram Reel , viewed by 526,000 users, detailing her midseason dismissal from the team by first-year head coach Capri Howard .

Johnson said Howard put her off the team due to conflicts stemming from a scheduled Dec. 4 practice that would’ve interfered with preparing for or completing final assignments and exams.

Johnson spoke on her team’s behalf via email, advocating for them to be allowed to focus on school instead of practicing. She said she was removed from the team on Dec. 1, three days before the Dec. 4 practice.

In response to Johnson’s removal, teammates Emilia Sturk , Anna , and Fransecsa Olay left the team.

FAMU Vice President and Director of Athletics Tiffani-Dawn Sykes said in a released statement last Saturday that all their athletics aid has been rewarded for the remainder of the academic year.
